I’m working on a research project for a class this semester, and I need volunteers to take a short survey. It involves reading three short passages and answering a few questions. It should only take about 10 minutes. The results will not be published and no identifiable personal information will be collected. If anyone is interested, just follow this link. New and Improved Shirts

Just a quick update to say that I’ve redone the design for my Better Living Through Syntax shirts. Now it actually looks like a proper X-bar structure instead of a hastily drawn tree-thingy. Check it out!

Keep in mind that the shirt colors there are just examples—you can choose your own. And, as always, if you have any feedback or requests, feel free to let me know.

Also, I promise that I’m working on a real, substantive post. It should be done any day now . . .

New Store, New Products

First off, let me apologize for not writing anything in a while. I’ve been busy with preparations for grad school and a new baby and haven’t gotten around to working on any of the ideas I’ve got bouncing around. I promise I’ll work on something soon.

But for now, you’ll have to be satisfied with something else entirely: t-shirts. I’ve moved my store from Cafepress for various reasons and have expanded my product line a little bit. I’ve got some other designs completed or in the works, but apparently Spreadshirt only lets me have three vector graphic designs at a time until I sell at least 10 shirts.

Until then, if you have any requests for different types of shirts or different designs, like maybe this better living through phonetics one, just let me know and I’ll be glad to accommodate.

A New Look, a New Name

Well, I’ve finally taken the plunge and spun off the English blog from the rest of my site. Hopefully this will give me more motivation to write new posts here. Maybe I’ll get really crazy and add some other stuff, too, like the FAQ and style guide that I’ve always dreamed about.

But for now I’m just worried about ironing out the kinks in my new skin. I’m pretty pleased with it so far, especially since it’s basically the product of one day’s work.

I apologize to all those who will have to unsubscribe from the old blog and subscribe to this one instead, but the old installation was messy—I was running two blogs on one installation thanks to a plug-in called Multiply. I thought it would be nice to have everything on one installation, but it caused a lot of other complications (like the inadvertent death of the Arts & Letters blog). So hopefully the move will have a few different advantages.
